The attack by Israeli forces on the maritime humanitarian aid convoy

HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
14th session
31 May – 18 June 2010

[Exerpt from the declaration]

First of all, our thoughts go out to the victims of the barbaric attack that took place in the international waters of the Mediterranean Sea in flagrant violation of the norms of international law.

Once again the State of Israel has felt threatened and once again we have all witnessed the disproportionate use of force by the army of the State of Israel. The threat here was represented by six civilian boats carrying more than 600 civilians and tonnes of humanitarian supplies intended for the population of the Gaza Strip, which has been besieged for almost three years by the blockade imposed by the State of Israel and scarred by the destruction suffered during Operation ‘Cast Lead’ in December 2008.
