In light of the above, it is important to refer to Resolution 1998/72, which requests the independent expert to conduct a study on the progress made in the implementation of the right to development. The expert should therefore have shown the extent to which the policies of States have recently moved towards the concrete recognition of the right to development, independently of the sole aspect of the growth rate of their gross domestic product (GDP).
