HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION
62nd session – Working Group on an Optional Protocol to the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights
6 February – 17 February 2006
[Excerpt from the statement]
As we have already indicated, international cooperation is not limited to development aid. It involves cooperation in economic, social and cultural fields. International cooperation means the commitment of all States to cooperate in achieving the human rights development objectives of each State, through the means and methods freely and democratically defined as most appropriate to its context, not to hinder such development, and not to impose on a people or a nation paths that are not suitable for them.
