Travelling exhibition on food sovereignty “Act today to eat well tomorrow”

11/09/2018

The travelling exhibition on food sovereignty “Act today to eat well/to better eat tomorrow” will be held at the Grütli House in Geneva from 17 to 21 September 2018, during The « Taste Week »/”Semaine du Goût” in order to support those who feed us, farmers and other people in rural areas. This will be an opportunity to raise a very topical subject: the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Farmers and Other People Working in Rural Areas, on which the UN Human Rights Council is called upon to give its opinion.

This Declaration, which is the achievement of huge negotiations that have been taken place for many years, highlights a number of important themes and raises key/main questions: What contribution does this Declaration make in the fight against poverty and malnutrition in rural areas? What contribution will it make to agro-ecology, food sovereignty and the fight against climate change? What solutions will it bring to the problems encountered by farmers on a daily basis with regard to: the preservation of peasant seeds, access to land, natural resources and a fair market, participation in decision-making, protection of trade union rights, …etc.?

Tuesday, 18th September 2018, Fonction Cinéma, 6:30 p.m.
