2018

CONTENT: This last bulletin of 2018 first looks back at the historic victory of the adoption of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants. We also refer to our written statement on the phenomenon of the criminalization of the struggles of the Mapuche people in Chile. We then discuss the draft treaty on transnational corporations. The text presented by the Chair of the Working Group is disappointing. We explain why. Two pages are devoted to publications. The one entitled “The EU and the corporate impunity nexus” and two books, one by Jean Ziegler, the other by Jacques Berthelot. We also return to an essential point: the right to development. Finally, we present to you the new book of the CETIM: “The UN Declaration on the Rights of Peasants”

CETIM Bulletin 57 (A4)

CONTENT: This bulletin begins with an interview with the CETIM director who explains what the declaration on peasants’ rights will be used for. We also talk about the statements on the situation in Brazil and Colombia made by CETIM and its partners. You will also read an article published in the newspaper Le Courrier and a summary of Glencore’s statement on violations of workers’ rights. Finally, we present the book of the Mayor of Geneva on Colombia.

CONTENT: The last issue of the year returns to the work of the Inter-Governmental Working Group on a legally binding instrument on transnational corporations. You will find information on the Treaty presented by CETIM and its partners. You will also read the latest news on farmers’ rights. This newsletter also features the last two children born in the Pensées d’hier pour demain collection.

CONTENT: In this bulletin you will find an article on Water Protectors’stay in Geneva. You will also read about the 34th session of the Human Rights council. This bulletin highlights CETIM’s work during the 4th session of the Working Group on the Rights of Peasants and Other Persons Working in Rural Areas. You will read an article about parrallel conference on food sovereignty. The new CETIM’s publication is presented. It is written by Samir Amin and named La souveraineté au service des peuples. L’agriculture paysanne, la voie de l’avenir!

CETIM Bulletin 54 (A4)
CONTENT: In this bulletin you will find an article on the activities of the Working Group on Peasant Rights, meeting for its 3rd session in Geneva. You will also find the presentation of the report of the chairperson of the working group. On the other hand, this bulletin highlights the debates of the intergovernmental working group on transnational corporations, as well as the week of mobilization against the impunity of multinationals. You will read excerpts from statements made at the UN on the content, scope and mechanism of implementation of the future Multinational Treaty. Two publications are presented as a reading note. They are Multinationales: les batailles de l’information, published by Ritimo and Le Droit transnational, by Gilles Lhuillier. A new publication of CETIM La Tricontinentale. La Tricontinentale. Les peuples du tiers-monde à l’assaut du ciel is also honored.

CONTENT: This bulletin is dedicated to the work of the CETIM in connection with its fight against the impunity of the multinationals. It presents the brochure Transnational corporations’ impunity, published in our collection Human Rights. He talks about our actions in the Human Rights Council. Like the denunciation of the assassination of the Honduran militant Berta Càceres. He is back on the third day against Chevron. As well as the conference on TNCs in the European Parliament. Finally, this bulletin presents the latest works published by the CETIM. La passion du schiste. Capitalisme, démocratie, environnement en Argentine. A collection of texts by Kwame Nkrumah and Hold-up sur le climat. Comment le système alimentaire est responsable du changement climatique et ce que nous pouvons faire.

CETIM Bulletin 52 (A4)
CONTENT: In this bulletin we return to the complaint presented by the CETIM against Colombia before the Human Rights Committee for its responsibility in the murder of a Coca Cola worker and Sinaltrainal union leader in 2002. We also reproduce the written statement (case study) presented by the CETIM to the Human Rights Council in September on the debt and austerity measures imposed on Greece. Finally we present Joseph Ki-Zerbo, the latest book in the CETIM’s Pensées d’hier pour demain collection.

CONTENT:  In this “Special TNCs” bulletin, we return to this first session of the intergovernmental working group mandated with the drafting an international legally binding instrument to regulate the activities of transnational corporations (TNCs), as well as on the mobilization of social movements and the proposals presented with the Global Campaign. This bulletin also presents the results of the initiatives undertaken by the CETIM at the Human Rights Council in support of the trade union SINALTRAINAL (Colombia) and of the victims of Chevron in Ecuador.

CONTENT: This newsletter deals with some of the main questions related to the recognition of the right to land in a special issue on the occasion of the new publication of the CETIM (The Right to Land, 2014, Human Rights Series). This bulletin contains an interview with Federico Pacheco, leader of the SOC-SAT (Andalusia, Spain). It also reviews the results of the second session of the intergovernmental working group on the rights of peasants that was held in February in Geneva and analyzes the content of the new draft Declaration, in particular its provisions on the right to land. Finally, a new publication in the PubliCETIM collection is presented: the book of Yash Tandon, Le commerce, c’est la guerre.

CETIM Bulletin 49 (A4)
CONTENT: This newsletter reviews the recent initiatives in September at the UN to oppose “vulture funds” as well as the presence in November in Geneva of La Vía Campesina leaders to support the Declaration on the rights of peasants during the informal consultations organized in the Palais des Nations. You will also find in this bulletin information on the lawsuit filled with the ICC against Chevron for its crimes in Ecuador and the UN asking Guatemala for explanation over repression against CODECA. Some new publications of the “Pensées d’Hier pour Demain” Collection are also presented.

CONTENT: This newsletter reviews two important victories at the Human Rights Council in June with the renewal of the mandate of the intergovernmental working group on the rights of peasants and the creation of a new intergovernmental working group to develop an international binding instrument on transnational corporations and human rights. The written statement submitted by the CETIM on the case of Coca Cola in Colombia is also reproduced. Some new publications of the CETIM are presented.

CONTENT: This newsletter presents the CETIM’s actions at the UN in terms of rights of peasants during the last six months.
